Dora García is an artist whose conceptual, often site-specific multimedia works encompass texts, photography, and performance.

She is interested in modifying conventional relations between artwork, audience, and artist. In Garcia’s most recent projects, she has adopted the role of a stage director, instructing performers to follow certain rules and insert their behavior in real-life situations, which remain open to audience intervention. She currently serves as a visiting teacher at the Haute ecole d’art et de design, Geneva, and Ecole nationale superieure des beauxarts, Lyon. Recent exhibitions include: dOCUMENTA (13), Kassel, 2012; Spanish Pavilion, 54th Venice Biennale, Venice, 2011; I Am a Judge, Kunsthalle Bern, Bern, 2010; Skulptur Projekte Munster, Munster, 2007; Rooms, Conversations, Galerie fur Zeitgenossische Kunst, Leipzig, 2007; Code inconnu, S.M.A.K., Ghent, 2006; and Todas las istorias, Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia, Madrid, 2006. Garcia lives and works in Brussels and Barcelona.
