Imogen Stidworthy is an artist whose work focuses on issues of the individual’s social and existential positions in relation to language, voice, and speaking.

She is a Senior Lecturer at Liverpool John Moores University, Liverpool, and is the recipient of, among others, the Liverpool Art Prize, Liverpool, 2008; and Prix de Rome, Amsterdam, 1996. Recent exhibitions include: The Collection as a Character, M HKA, Antwerp, 2013; Imogen Stidworthy, AKINCI, Amsterdam, 2013; Acts of Voicing, Wurtemburgischer Kunstverein, Stuttgart; and Busan Biennale, Busan, 2012; 52nd October Salon, Belgrade, 2011; (.), Matt’s Gallery, London; The Work, Kunstpavillon, Innsbruck, 2010–2011; Imogen Stidworthy, Arnolfini, Bristol, 2010; and documenta 12, Kassel, 2007. Stidworthy published her book (.) in 2012. She also recently curated the exhibitions Blackout, Exhibition Research Centre, Liverpool John Moores University, Liverpool, 2013; In the First Circle (with Paul Domela), Fundacio Antoni Tapies, Barcelona, 2011–2012; and Die Lucky Bush, M HKA, Antwerp, 2008. Stidworthy lives in Liverpool.
