Pelin Tan is an art historian, sociologist, and Assistant Professor in the New Media Department at Kadir Has University, Istanbul.

In fall 2013, she is joining the Architecture Department of Mardin Artuklu University, Mardin. Prior to that, Tan was a research fellow of the Japan Foundation at the Osaka City University, Osaka. She has been collaborating with artist Anton Vidokle since 2011 on the project 2084, which they first screened at the “Institutions by Artists” convention, Vancouver, 2012. She also collaborates with video collective Artıkisler and is working on a study on art and labor with Onder Ozengi (2011– 2013). Tan served as an associate curator of Adhocracy at the 1st Istanbul Design Biennial, Istanbul, in 2012. She is advisory editor of NOON Contemporary and Visual Art Journal of Gwangju Foundation and ARTMargins. Her publications include Ethics of Locality: Urban Commons (2013) and Unconditional Hospitality and Threshold Architecture (2013). Tan lives and works in Istanbul.
