Christian von Borries is a musician, filmmaker, and anti-copyright activist, making media from other media.

In his works, he focuses on what he calls “site-specific psychogeographic aspects.” He has received commissions from Kampnagel Theater, Hamburg, and Volksbuhne, Berlin, among others. Borries has taught architecture at the Academy of Fine Arts, Nuremberg, and the University of Film and Television, Potsdam. His awards include: the Klaus-Wildenhahn Prize, Documentary Film Festival, Hamburg, 2012; mention premier film, Festival of Documentary Film, Marseille, 2010; and the Echo Award for his CD Replay Debussy, 2003. His work can be found on YouTube and SoundCloud, tag word “masseundmacht.” Recent exhibitions include: Central Asian Pavilion, 55th Venice Biennale, Venice, 2013; The Potosí Principle, Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia, Madrid, Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Berlin, and Museo Nacional de Arte, La Paz, 2010–2011; 1st Ural Industrial Biennial, Ekaterinburg, 2010; and documenta 12, Kassel, 2007. Borries lives and works in Berlin.
